The VPK:n talo (Volunteer Fire-brigade Banquet Hall) building, completed in 1892, was built to serve as a party venue for the townspeople. From the house’s guest book you can find many well-known names. Besides famous Finnish persons, such as Jean Sibelius and Oskar Merikanto, for instance Josephine Baker performed there.
Come and enjoy a buffet dinner and cocktails accompanied by live music performances and good company! The evening is partly sponsored by the City of Turku.

A Renaissance Banquet in the Turku Castle, one of the greatest examples of Finnish cultural heritage, will be a truly memorable experience. In the Middle Ages the castle was often visited by monarchs and became an important administrative centre. In the 16th century, Duke John established a luxurious renaissance court in the castle. You are invited to enjoy a medieval dinner hosted by Duke John and his charming spouse Katarina Jagellonica.

Dancing will follow after the dinner to the tunes of more modern times.

Dress code: dark suit

Bus transportation is arranged from the congress hotels at 18.00.

The Closing Party is held at the Brewery Restaurant Koulu. The beautiful neo-renaissance building was built in 1889 and it formerly served as a school. Thus the name of the restaurant “Koulu”, school in English. Nowadays Koulu is one the largest brewery restaurants in Finland.

Archipelago CruiseCruise in the archipelago

On the dinner cruise on m/s Kökar you will sail in the waters of the beautiful Turku archipelago. You will see old riverboats, the Turku Castle and the charming villas of Ruissalo. Dinner will be served during the cruise.

Price includes cruise and dinner buffet. The boat departs from the river Aurajoki, view the departure point here.

Join an interesting guided walking tour in the charming Old Town of the nearby town Naantali and visit the magnificent Kultaranta Baroque Gardens.

The day will begin with a guided visit to the historical Turku Cathedral, one of the most important architectural buildings in Finland and the country’s national shrine. From Turku Cathedral the tour continues to Kultaranta Gardens in Naantali. Kultaranta is the summer residence of the President of Finland and its garden is open to visitors. The garden was completed in 1916 and it surrounds the granite castle. Lunch will be served at the seaside restaurant Merisali, after which there will be a guided tour in the Old Town and some spare time for souvenir shopping.

Price includes bus transportation, guided tour, entrance to Kultaranta and lunch.
Bus transportation leaves from Radisson Blu Marina Palace Hotel (address Linnankatu 23) at 9.00 and goes to Original Sokos Hotel Hamburger Börs at around 9.10.

Turku DesignA Design Tour in Turku

On this two-hour walking tour you will become acquainted with the fascinating world of Finnish design and handicraft. During the tour you will meet local entrepreneurs of Turku design and handicraft. This is a great opportunity to find souvenirs and presents to bring back home with you! Lunch will be served at the beautiful Hus Lindman restaurant, which is located in a historical building by the river Aurajoki.

Price includes guided tour and lunch. The tour stars from a sightseeing stop at address Aurakatu 2, by a stone sculpture.

LuostarinmäkiA Historical Walking Tour

In 1827 the Great Fire of Turku caused enormous destruction, but Luostarinmäki was spared. Today Luostarinmäki is a Handicraft Museum that provides a unique setting to see the craftsmen of the pre-industrial era. In addition to the Handicraft Museum you will learn about the old Turku at Aboa Vetus Museum, where the excavated foundations reveal the medieval lanes of the old quarter and are left exposed for the fascination of visitors.

Price includes guided tour, entrance to Handicraft Museum and Aboa Vetus and coffee. Please note that the minimum number of participants is 10. The tour starts at 13.00 in front of the Handicraft Museum, address Vartiovuorenkatu 2.
